This 2019 Citroën Relay arrived at our Norfolk workshop with a beautifully clear brief: to create a clean, minimalist camper that prioritised freedom and simplicity above all else. Designed for a couple or solo traveller, the goal was to build a highly capable, self-sufficient haven for exploring the UK and beyond, without the complexity of larger, more elaborate layouts. It was a project that perfectly aligned with our love for thoughtful, nature-inspired design.
The foundation of this build is its robust off-grid solar electrical system, engineered to reliably power the fridge, efficient LED lighting, and multiple USB ports for days at a time. The interior embraces a clean, modern aesthetic, creating a calm and uncluttered living space. We crafted a comfortable fixed double bed and a functional kitchen galley, complete with a hob, sink, and fridge. For true four-season travel, a powerful diesel heater was installed, ensuring the van remains a warm and inviting retreat on even the coldest nights.
The result is a perfectly balanced 2-berth camper that embodies the ‘less is more’ philosophy, proving that a minimalist design can still deliver maximum freedom and comfort. Finished with high-quality components like an external awning and a Thule electric step for convenience, this Citroën Relay is a testament to our passion for creating reliable, beautiful, and handcrafted homes on wheels, ready for any adventure.
