While we specialise in converting panel vans, we love a unique challenge, and this iconic 2020 Airstream project was a perfect opportunity to showcase our expertise in off-grid electrical systems. The owner came to us with a classic trailer that had a timeless design but needed a modern power solution. The brief was to engineer and install a robust, reliable solar and battery system that would grant them true freedom from campsites, without compromising the Airstream’s unique layout and aesthetic.
Our primary task was to design and install a complete off-grid system powerful enough for modern needs. This involved a custom solar panel installation, carefully planned to maximise energy generation on the Airstream’s distinctive curved roof. At the heart of the system, we fitted a high-capacity lithium battery bank, managed by a premium solar charge controller and paired with a pure sine wave power inverter. The entire system was connected with bespoke wiring, ensuring a safe, efficient, and seamlessly integrated setup.
The result is a classic Airstream that now has the heart of a modern, self-sufficient explorer, ready for any adventure.
